A lot of research is carried out on the teaching and learning of mathematics each year. Since September 2013, all registered teachers have had free access to the EBSCO Education Source package on this website. EBSCO is a collection of over 1,700 journals, a selection of eBooks, and additional research resources in the field of education.
This project is a response from the Teaching Council to a call from teachers for easier access to research and critical engagement with research.
The project also reflects the Council’s Policy on the Continuum of Teacher Education which promotes teachers as enquiry-oriented, life-long learners and the Code of Professional Conduct which says that teachers should “inform their professional judgement and practice by engaging with, and reflecting on … learning theory [and] pedagogy…”
The project will allow registered teachers to stay in touch with current research in education and pedagogy, thereby informing and enhancing their practice as educators.
The EBSCO “Education Source” facility provides registered teachers with access to:

• Full text for over 1,700 journals
• Indexing and abstracts for thousands of journals
• Full text for more than 550 books and monographs
• Full text for numerous education-related conference papers
• Citations for over 4 million articles, including book reviews
• Access to the Council’s collection of eBooks

To access the collection:

1. Click here to redirect to the Registered Teacher Login page.
2. Enter your Teaching Council Registration number and Password in the required fields and then click Login. If you are a new user or have forgotten your password, you may create a new password by clicking on the Create New Password button and following the instructions.
3. Once you have logged in, please click on the Access to Education Journals option on the left of your screen.
4. A new tab will open allowing you to immediately access the Education Source database of journals and articles. It is recommended that users create a personalised EBSCO host account should they wish to save favourite journals and articles, organise research with folders and save search history. In order to create a personalised account, please click on the Sign In option on the blue menu bar at the top of the EBSCO web-page. Personalised accounts and support for personalised accounts are managed by EBSCO.
